What HiDental collects, why, and who sees it.
HiDental is operated by Gagua, 1201 North Pacific Ave #204, Glendale, California 91202. Questions: [email protected].
Searching and reading listings
- You do not need an account. What you type in the search box is used to answer the search and is not kept with anything that identifies you.
- The home page estimates your area from your internet connection, to about the level of a city, to show nearby offices. It is used for that page and not saved.
- "Near me" asks your browser for your position only when you press it. The position is rounded to about half a mile and appears in the address of the results page.
- There are no advertising trackers and no analytics scripts on this site.
- Maps are drawn with OpenStreetMap. When a page shows a map, your browser fetches the map images from OpenStreetMap and the map software from a public library host, which can see your internet address as any website you visit can.
- Our network provider, Cloudflare, carries the traffic between you and our servers and keeps its own short-lived security records.
Sending an appointment request
- The form asks for your name, one way to reach you (email or phone), how you prefer to be contacted, the kind of visit, and a preferred day and time. Please do not put medical details in it.
- The request goes to the practice you chose. Staff at that practice see it, and HiDental staff may see it when helping that practice.
- Your name and contact details are stored encrypted. They are not sold and not used for advertising.
- You choose whether the practice may also send you offers and reminders. That box is never ticked for you, and you can change it through the private link you are given.
- The private link shown after sending lets you view or withdraw the request. Keep it to yourself.
- A form on a practice's own website that says it is sent through HiDental works the same way: what you type goes directly to HiDental, not to that website. A practice may connect its website to HiDental so that the website's own administrators see how many requests are waiting. That is a count only: no name, contact detail or anything else about a person is sent to the website.
Writing a review
- To write a review you sign in with your email address. We email you a link; there is no password.
- Where it is offered, you can sign in with your Google account instead. Google then tells us your email address and your name, and nothing else, and Google learns that you signed in to HiDental. We do not receive your Google password or anything from your Google account. The page where you sign in loads Google's sign-in button; no other page here loads anything from Google.
- We keep your email address and the name you chose to show. Your address is never shown and is used only to sign you in and, if needed, to contact you about your review.
- Your review, your rating and the name you chose are public once HiDental has read and published the review. Leave out anything private.
- Photos you add are made smaller and everything but the picture is removed before they are kept, including where and when they were taken. They are public with your published review.
- Before a person at HiDental reads a review, an AI service, Anthropic's Claude, reads it to point out anything that may break the review guidelines. It is sent what would be public if the review were published: the words, the stars, the photos and the practice's name; never your email address. Anthropic processes it for HiDental and does not use it to train its models. A person makes every decision. A practice's answer to a review is read the same way.
- You can change your review at any time. To have a review or your account deleted, write to us.
- The practice you review is not told your email address.
Practice staff
- An account holds your work email address, a password stored in a form that cannot be read back, and the secret for your authenticator app.
- What you do in the workspace is recorded in an audit trail the practice owner can see.
- If you turn alerts on for a device, we keep that device's address at its browser maker's notification service (Google, Apple or Mozilla). The alerts sent to it are empty signals: they carry nothing about a patient or a request. Turning alerts off deletes the address.
Cookies
- One cookie keeps you signed in, if you sign in: one for practice staff, another for people who write reviews.
- While you sign in with Google, one cookie lasting up to half an hour ties Google's answer to your visit, and Google sets cookies of its own on its sign-in button.
- One remembers a choice you make in Settings.
- There are no others.
Counting how listings are used
We count how many times each practice's listing and each of its offers is shown, how many times an offer is opened, and how many times a listing's phone, directions and website links are used. A count is a number for a day and a practice. Nothing about you is kept with it: not your address, your device, what you searched for, or where you are.
Advertising
Advertisements on HiDental are drawn by HiDental itself. No advertiser's code runs on these pages, and an advertiser is not told who saw its advertisement. We count how many times each advertisement is shown and followed, as numbers only. If you follow an advertisement, the address you arrive at says that you came from a banner on HiDental, and nothing more.
Listings of dental practices
Basic listings hold business information from public records. A practice can correct its listing by claiming it, or ask us to correct or remove it with "Report a problem" on the listing, or at [email protected]. A report keeps the name and email address given with it, so that we can ask about it.
Your requests to us
To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, write to [email protected]. If it concerns an appointment request, we may need to involve the practice you sent it to.
