Free 3D Scan Viewer

Open the scan from your CD or download and look at it yourself. Three views, a 3D model, and measuring tools. No software, no account.

Your scan never leaves your device. It is opened inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is saved on our servers.

You will be asked to agree to the viewer terms first.

How it works

  1. Find your scan. Put the CD in your computer and look for the folder named DICOM or IMAGES, or use the download link from the imaging centre.
  2. Drop the folder in the viewer. You do not need to open or sort the files. A .zip file works too.
  3. Look around. Roll the mouse wheel to move through the scan, drag to turn the 3D model, and use the ruler to measure.

No scan at hand? Learn with the sample

The viewer carries a teaching CT: a head with teeth, both jaws, the sinuses and one dental implant. It is made by the page itself and is not a real person. Open it with one click, or download it as a real DICOM study (160 slices, about 3 MB) and practise the steps above exactly as you would with a CD from your dentist. Five short exercises on the viewer's start page show you how to find the implant, measure it, tell hard bone from spongy bone, spot the nerve canal and the sinuses, and see it all in 3D.

  • See the scan from the front, the side and from above, with a crosshair that links all three.
  • Turn a 3D model of the jaw and skull; show bone, skin, or teeth and metal.
  • Zoom, move the picture, and change brightness and contrast or the colours.
  • Measure distances in millimetres, angles, and the size and density of a region.
  • Save pictures of any view to bring to your appointment.

Before your appointment

Save the views you want to talk about and write down your questions. When you call an office, ask what it needs from you, such as a copy of your scan.

Find a dentist for this

3D scans of the jaw (cone beam CT) are most often taken and read by oral surgeons, root canal specialists (endodontists) and orthodontists, and by many general dentists. Ask the office whether it can look at your scan before you book.

Or see every practice near you. Each listing shows the phone number, so you can call and ask.

Your privacy

  • The viewer runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read by the page on your device and are not sent to us or anyone else.
  • The page carries a browser security rule that blocks every outgoing connection. You can check it yourself: open the viewer, switch off your internet, and it still works.
  • We do not keep a copy of your scan, its pictures, or the measurements you make. Agreeing to the terms is remembered only in that browser tab.

Questions

Is my scan uploaded?

No. The scan is opened only inside your browser, on your own device. HiDental does not receive, copy or store it. The viewer page is also locked by a browser security rule that forbids it from sending anything anywhere.

What files can I open?

The folder from your scan CD (often named DICOM or IMAGES), a .zip of it, loose DICOM files, or studies saved by iCAT or Xoran scanners (.xstd). Scans stored in a compressed DICOM format cannot be opened yet; ask the imaging centre for an uncompressed export.

Do I need to install anything or make an account?

No. It works in a current browser on a computer, tablet or phone. A computer gives the best view.

Is this a medical viewer?

No. It is for looking at your own scan and for getting ready for a visit. It gives no diagnosis. Measurements are approximate. Go over your scan with your dentist or doctor.

Can I use it on someone else's scan?

Only if you have their permission to see it, for example a family member you care for.

For viewing only. The viewer is not a medical device and gives no diagnosis or treatment advice. See all free tools.
